This tapping lick by Joe Satriani is from the song Always With You Always With Me, from his 1987 release, Surfing With the Alien.
In this lick, Satriani utilizes the concept of tapping on one string, while using the notes that are related to the key of that particular string. In this case he's playing on the B string, and the notes are all in the key of B major.
Another important aspect of this lick is that the tapped B at the 12th fret remains the same througout the pattern, while the other notes move through the scale. The B note in this pattern can be refered to as the pedal point.Tuning:
